On New Year's Day, a fatal shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Gareth Circle in Stockton, where a 47-year-old woman was killed. According to the Stockton Police Department's social media post, officers responded to reports of the shooting at around 11 a.m. where they found the victim with a gunshot wound. She was promptly transported to a local hospital, where she ultimately died from her injuries.
Responding to the urgency of the situation, the Stockton PD Homicide unit took charge of the case. The detectives' efforts led to the swift identification and arrest of 20-year-old Jkwon Williams, the victim's son, as the primary suspect. "Williams was subsequently booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on voluntary manslaughter and weapons charges," the Stockton Police Department stated. The suspect was intercepted and detained within mere hours following the incident.
The department has not released further details about the circumstances leading to the fatal incident involving the mother and son. As is standard in such serious cases, the Stockton Police Department ensures the public that this is still an "ongoing investigation."
