The Stockton Police Department reported an arrest connected with the shooting incident that claimed the life of a man in his 40s.  According to Stockton Police Department Facebook post officials detailed how, after continuous investigative work, detectives identified 22-year-old Kenneth Mejia as a suspect. 

Responding to the call received on November 9, 2024, around 6:33 p.m., police officers discovered the victim, suffering from a gunshot wound, at the intersection of MLK and Aurora. Despite transportation to an area hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased, leaving a community to grapple with the ripple effects of violence on already troubled streets.

Mejia eluded law enforcement until detectives, aided by the U.S. Marshals Task Force, located and arrested him without incident in Stockton yesterday. Following the arrest, he was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail where he faces homicide-related charges.
