Gwinnett County has seen a break in its recent burglary spree with the arrest of a local man. Cory Brenner, a 39-year-old resident of Stone Mountain, faces two counts of first-degree burglary after being linked to a pair of home break-ins totaling close to $20,000 in stolen goods. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the houses, located near Old Tucker Road in Stone Mountain, were broken into on December 12, 2024 and January 16, respectively, with electronics and jewelry being taken.

Authorities stated that Brenner left a trail of evidence, including blood droplets after smashing a window during one of the burglaries. The extensive list of missing items included "heirloom jewelry, electronics, gaming systems," Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle detailed, in a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta. This crime disturbed the peace of the local neighborhood, with resident Samah Josufi expressing disbelief and concern over the burglaries, after learning someone had broken into her neighbors' homes from FOX 5.

In an impressive display of detective work, Gwinnett County Police were able to trace some of the stolen property back to Brenner by monitoring online sale listings. According to On Common Ground News, detectives executed a search warrant on Jan. 24 at a residence on Old Tucker Road, where they made the arrest and recovered nearly $20,000 worth of the stolen property.

"It’s good to be able to get people’s property back in their hands," Winderweedle told FOX 5, in the wake of the stolen goods being valuably, returned to the rightful owners. The arrest brought a measure of relief to those affected by the break-ins, although the psychological impact of such invasions of privacy could not be as easily restored. The Gwinnett County Police Department encourages anyone with further information on these cases to come forward.
