A tragic event unfolded on a calm yesterday afternoon in Ridge Manor, leaving two individuals dead following a vehicular collision with a semi truck. According to WFLA, the fatal incident occurred at the crossing of Cortez Blvd. and US-301 around 1:49 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported to multiple sources, including FOX13NEWS that a Ford Focus, operated by a 72-year-old man from Nobleton, was engaged in an eastward journey on Cortez Blvd when it steered into the approaching semi truck’s trajectory, a forceful encounter ensued ending two lives, marking a somber reminder of the fragility that pervades our daily travels; the truck driver emerged uninjured, the merciless physics of mass and metal sparing his flesh in a way it did not for the two souls in the smaller car.
Victims included the elderly pair, the driver himself and his passenger, an 86-year-old woman from Bushnell, who were both pronounced deceased as a consequence of the sustained injuries, as WTSP corroborated. The driver of the heavy vehicle, a 66-year-old man hailing from Iowa, was noted to have endured the crash without any injuries.
