A man was arrested in Culver City after he allegedly attacked a man and his daughter with a knife. The incident occurred on Friday morning along the La Ballona Creek bicycle path, as confirmed by the Culver City Police Department. According to CBS Los Angeles, the attack took place near the intersection of Ocean Drive and Westwood Boulevard shortly before 9:30 a.m.
The father, who was exercising with his juvenile daughter, reported that a man had begun "violently swinging a knife" in his direction without apparent provocation, KTLA states. Both the father and daughter managed to escape unharmed and contacted the authorities. The police responded to the scene and later found the suspect in a parking lot of Culver City Middle School, which was vacant due to winter break.
After apprehending the suspect, the police were able to recover the discarded weapon, which was found near the site of the arrest. "The knife used in this crime (pictured) was discarded by the suspect moments before he was detained but was recovered by officers at the scene," a post from the Culver City Police Department's social media account detailed. Authorities have not released the identities of either the victims or the suspect, nor have they discussed potential motives for the attack.
