An attempted armored car robbery has left one suspect wounded after an altercation with a security guard near the Galleria area in Houston. KHOU 11 News reported that the incident took place on Westheimer Road near Hillcroft Avenue this morning, around 11:45 a.m. A female driver and a male guard, while servicing an ATM at a Bank of America, were pepper-sprayed by a group of suspects in the midst of the robbery, according to Houston police.

The security guard, responding to the attack, opened fire on the assailants, hitting and hospitalizing one. As of the latest updates, the wounded suspect's condition remains undisclosed. However, clothed only with the failure of their plan, the second suspect managed to escape in an unknown vehicle and is currently being sought after by authorities. The search for more suspects continues, as law enforcement sources have indicated that at least three others are involved in the incident but have yet to be apprehended.

KPRC 2 provided further details that the robbery was carried out by four gunmen who arrived in a black SUV. Detectives believe that these suspects had been observing the area, planning their robbery to coincide with the truck's cash delivery schedule. This incident adds to a troubling pattern of robberies targeting armored vehicles in different parts of Houston.

The Houston Fire Department confirmed to KPRC 2's Joy Addison that "the suspect was transported to Ben Taub Hospital with one or more gunshot wounds." Although the authorities have not released the identity or age of the individual, it is confirmed that the person hospitalized was one of the suspects. After the attack, draped in uncertainty, the remaining suspects do not appear to be in the nearby vicinity, as per authorities' belief.
