
An armed robbery suspect, identified as Jadarius Williams, 27, was apprehended on Wednesday after attempting to flee from law enforcement officers at a pawn shop on Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville. According to First Coast News, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office stated that the clerk at Value Pawn had been previously instructed to look out for Williams, who was a known visitor to the store with a warrant for his arrest.
The series of events unfolded around 3:40 p.m. after the pawn store clerk recognized Williams and contacted the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The arrival of the officers prompted Williams to flee, first on bicycle and then on foot. In a statement obtained by News4JAX, one officer bumped Williams' bike with a car, causing him to fall. Williams then was struck by an another patrol vehicle as he attempted to escape, yet he continued to run, leading the officers into a culvert where they eventually took him into custody.
The suspect sustained non-life threatening injuries during the chase and was hospitalized following his arrest. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office informed that, besides the armed robbery warrant, Williams is also linked to several burglaries in the area.
