Two men caused significant damage at The Church at Bethel's Family in Southwest Houston during a break-in. Described by staff at the church, they outline that the suspects broke into the church grounds and vandalized the property. According to a KHOU report, the damage is estimated to be over $100,000.

In an intrusive event captured by surveillance cameras, the suspects used a crowbar to gain entry through a kitchen door at about 3 a.m. In a building filled with faith and community service, they left destruction in their wake, ranging from a damaged fire and alarm system to a vandalized bookstore. Edgar White, a spokesperson for the church, stated, "Forgiveness is always on the table, if they needed food, we have it, if they needed clothing, we have it," as reported by KHOU.

The church has been a staple in the community for 30 years, known for its various outreach initiatives, including a daycare and clothing store. The crime, which only netted the suspects about a thousand dollars, won’t deter the church from its mission, church representatives say. Walking across the parking lot, the suspects were caught on camera, which the footage has led the Houston Police to seek the public's assistance in the case.

The damage inflicted included not only material objects but also the sense of security within the community it serves. Facility Manager Edgar White shared his shock regarding the duration of the crime, noting that the burglars seemed unusually at ease, as per a Fox 26 Houston report. "Burglars kind of go in and come out," White said, expressing surprise that the suspects spent an hour and a half inside the church. In response, Dr. Schuwan Dorsey, a church member, stated, "If you wanted something, my pastor, Walter August Jr., he will give it to you. He's a giving man, so if you need something, come and ask," as she mentioned in a Fox 26 Houston interview.

The church urges the suspects to come forward, seeking an opportunity for forgiveness and restoration. "We would definitely love to talk with them and pray with them," White said in hopes of guiding the suspects towards a better path, as noted by Fox 26 Houston. Information regarding the suspects should be directed to the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
