A Tacoma residence was engulfed in flames early Wednesday morning, resulting in a dog's death and the hospitalization of one individual. As reported by KOMO News, the Tacoma Fire Department responded to the emergency call at a home on the 1200 block of E 36th St. at approximately 2:14 a.m.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been a stove fire that quickly escalated, finding its way into the attic. A media representative from Tacoma Fire, Chelsea Shepherd, said, "The person at the house was cooking at the time." This preliminary assessment suggests a mundane act transformed tragically into disaster. Shepherd's interview with The News Tribune confirmed that the individual involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries but the pet dog was less fortunate.
The house sustained severe damages as a result of the blaze. Images circulating show the extent of the destruction, with portions of the structure visibly charred and exposed.
The name of the hospitalized resident has not been disclosed.
