A 46-year-old man from Tampa, Adam Scott Robitaille, was arrested for posting threats to the Hillsborough County Courthouse on social media. A community member flagged the post, which led the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) to launch an investigation, as reported by WFLA.
Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, "Our community's safety is our highest priority, and we take any threat—whether made in frustration or otherwise—extremely seriously," according to FOX 13 News. After interviewing Robitaille, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) reported that the suspect admitted to the post but said it was made out of frustration. The citizen who reported the post was praised by the Sheriff for playing a crucial role in potentially preventing a tragic outcome.
According to Tampa Free Press, although Robitaille deleted the threatening comment, law enforcement still found the threat credible enough to cause concern among courthouse employees and the public. The investigation, which began immediately after the tip, led to Robitaille being charged with one count of Written or Electronic Threat to Kill or Do Bodily Injury.
