On Monday morning, Elk Grove police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle near a community mailbox around 4:15 a.m. According to a social media post by the Elk Grove Police Department, the alert from passersby led to the quick detention of three individuals believed to be attempting to break into the mailbox. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after the report and took the suspects into custody.
The three individuals—40-year-olds Lom Nguyen and Robert Lee, and 34-year-old Thaveesak Kham, all from Stockton—were arrested and found in possession of stolen mail, burglary tools, makeshift mailbox keys, and narcotics. The Elk Grove Police Department reported that the items seized suggest an attempted theft, which was swiftly halted by the intervention of responding officers. The suspects were booked into the Main Jail without further incident.
