
In a distressing turn of events, an overnight shooting near a shopping plaza on Guess Road in Durham has left three individuals wounded, as reported by local authorities. Durham Police Department officials disclosed that they responded to a call around 12:30 a.m about victims with gunshot injuries arriving at a nearby hospital. According to CBS 17, the officers have confirmed, "Two victims with non-life-threatening injuries, one in critical condition."
Further inquiries led them to a location in the 2400 block of Guess Road, where the shooting is believed have occurred. The affected vicinity is known to house a variety of establishments, including a shopping center with diverse storefronts, an assortment of restaurants, and a nightclub. It was conveyed that most of these businesses were shuttered at the time of the incident. CBS 17 quoted a nightclub manager stating that, while the shooting took place, the loud music drowned out the sound of gunfire, with security footage revealing that the wounded did not emerge from the club.
Adjacent to the crime scene, Atlantic Auto Exchange Inc. lays just one parking lot over. Its owner, Chip Stabler, recounted being questioned about the shooting by a friend later in the morning. The incident remains as an active investigation by the Durham police, as communicated by WRAL. They reported that two of the victims had shown up at the hospital around 12:14 a.m.; the third arrived shortly thereafter.
Despite the ongoing probe, specifics on what sparked the shooting or information about potential suspects remain undisclosed. The victims, whose identities have yet not been released, were reportedly transported to the hospital in a privately-owned vehicle, relayed ABC11.
