The City Council of Tigard is pushing ahead with the "Building a Better Tigard" initiative, having greenlit a contract with Otak, Inc., they will serve as the Project Director. The project's goal is to unite the Police and Public Works departments under one modern and durable roof, equipped to handle the growing demands of nearly 60,000 residents.
Chosen for their proven track record in overseeing large-scale public endeavors, Otak, Inc., has been instrumental in the completion of projects such as Lake Oswego's City Hall and Police Station and the St. Helens Public Safety Building, as well as managing an impressive $875+ million bond-funded program for the Salem-Keizer School District.
The new facility, set to occupy 9.5 acres at 13225 SW Wall Street, will supplant nine antiquated and sprawled-out worksites. As outlined on the City's website, the move is a strategic play to enhance efficiency, ensure safety, cut costs, and upgrade services. It's a vision to centralize operations, allowing for a more streamlined approach to vital City services and resilient infrastructure capable of facing natural disasters.
With Otak's Dave Lintz at the helm, and a veteran in complex project management, Tigard expects to navigate the forthcoming developmental phases with expertise. "Otak, Inc. brings extensive experience in managing large-scale public projects," the City of Tigard says. The steps ahead involve securing architectural and engineering expertise to shape the facility's design. Input from the community remains a crucial element of the design process, with the City committed to keeping its residents informed through its website, social media, and newsletters.
