Interstate 45 has been the stage for not one, but two traffic disruptions, with separate incidents occurring on the northbound and southbound lanes over the past couple of days. Last Friday evening, the northbound lanes near The Woodlands were the site of a significant multi-vehicle accident. The collision, which involved an overturned box truck, two 18-wheelers, and several passenger vehicles, led to a complete standstill of traffic after 5:20 p.m. north of Spring Creek, as reported by ABC13. As a result of the crash, five individuals were taken to the hospital, where they are presently reported to be in stable condition.
The southbound route of I-45 faced its own set of challenges when an RV caught fire near the 11400 block, prompting an emergency response. Houston police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene of the RV ablaze around 2:30 p.m., after receiving reports of the vehicle emanating smoke. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported in relation to this incident. Efforts to quickly, yet safely clear the scene were underway, as noted by Click2Houston.
The incidents on I-45 have caused significant disruptions to traffic, a key route in Houston's transit network. As both incidents continue to impact the daily lives of commuters, authorities have responded promptly and kept the public informed.
