A heartbreaking incident at the Arizona Biltmore has come into sharper focus as details emerge regarding the death of an eight-year-old Iowa boy, Luke Linnett, who was killed when a statue fell on him.

On November 27, Linnett was with his family at the resort when he attempted to climb one of the "Sprites," a set of statues designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and Alfonso Ianelli, which were not attached to their bases. This led to the statue tipping over and causing the fatal injury as the boy's mother was nearby waiting for a grocery delivery, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.

Following the event, the Phoenix Police Department concluded no foul play and closed the investigation on December 4 after ruling the death an accident due to blunt force trauma. Statements offered by the family's attorney Dennis I. Wilenchik shared with AZCentral referenced the devastating nature of the incident and the family's grief, "This should never have happened and is scary but also a reminder to us all to hold and cherish our loved ones and particularly young ones and give thanks to God every day for what we have and what is important in life."
