An argument turned violent early yesterday morning in Brooklyn's Cypress Hills neighborhood, leaving three people injured after shots were fired inside El Nuevo Tipico Restaurant. According to abc7NY, the incident, which occurred shortly after 1 a.m., escalated when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds.
The altercation resulted in a 38-year-old man being shot in the hand—he went to a nearby police precinct and told officers about the shooting. A 27-year-old woman also suffered two gunshot wounds to the leg, and a 37-year-old man received a graze wound to the abdomen. As reported by abc7NY, both victims were taken to local hospitals and are said to be in stable condition.
The gunman is still at large, with the NYPD describing him as a man last seen wearing a gray hat and black pants, fleeing on Fulton Street.
Omar Dones, a Cypress Hills resident, shared concerns with News 12: "Unfortunately, we’re starting the new year with the same crime as last year. We just need more NYPD patrolling the neighborhoods."
