A series of shootings on Milwaukee's northwest side has left two individuals dead and another two injured in separate incidents.
On Wednesday, a shooting occurred near 28th and Atkinson Streets where 17-year-old Zaniya Booker suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Initially misreported as a 15-year-old victim by law enforcement officials, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office later clarified her age. CBS58 first covered this development, noting the tragic loss of the young individual in a report earlier this week. Police continue to investigate and have not yet identified a suspect in connection with Booker's death.
A second shooting occurred shortly thereafter, at approximately 6:38 p.m. CST, this time at W Cheyenne St. near N 39th St., where three individuals were shot. Authorities pronounced a 22-year-old victim dead at the scene, identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office as Jocelyn Jimenez. A report by Journal Sentinel provided details of the incident, citing the additional two victims, aged 56 and 54, who were injured and transported to a hospital. The condition of the survivors has not been further updated.
Milwaukee Police have made progress in the investigation of the triple shooting, having taken a 32-year-old suspect into custody. The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office is reviewing charges, as outlined in an article by WTMJ. The police department is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in both ongoing investigations.
The timing of these violent incidents aligns with a worrisome trend in the city, marking the fifth homicide of the year, as per figures from the Milwaukee Police Department. The Milwaukee Police Department is asking individuals with any information to reach out to them at 414-935-7360 or to connect anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 414-224-Tips.
