A severe vehicular collision in Allendale Township this morning resulted in the hospitalization of two drivers. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office reported the incident occurred around 11:10 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive and 68th Avenue. According to WOOD TV, the crash involved a 17-year-old boy from Allendale who was driving through the intersection and collided with another vehicle, operated by a 69-year-old Allendale woman.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the 69-year-old woman unresponsive and pinned inside her car, a situation that necessitated the jaws of life to free her from the wreck. She was subsequently transported to Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids in critical condition, reported WZZM 13. The teenage driver was taken to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and is said to be in stable condition. Thankfully, it is confirmed both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The sheriff's office has not yet released the names of those involved and is conducting an ongoing investigation into the specific circumstances of the crash. While it was noted that one of the vehicles was heading southbound through the junction, it remains unclear if that vehicle was in the right of way or the direction the other was traveling at the time of the collision. This information was mentioned by WHTC, which did not disclose further specifics about the incident.
