Early this week, a carjacking incident unfolded in Coachella, where a victim's Dodge Charger was taken at gunpoint by three suspects identified as Hispanic male juveniles. As reported by the Riverside Sheriff's Office, the crime occurred in the small hours on the 84500 block of Calle Rojo with the suspects also making off with personal items belonging to the victim. "The suspects pointed handguns at the victim and demanded the keys to his vehicle along with personnel items," the Riverside County Sheriff's Office detailed in an official statement.

Following the report of the incident, Thermal Sheriff's Station deputies promptly located the stolen vehicle on Calle Techa, resulting in two of the suspects, both 16 years old, being apprehended whilst attempting to flee. The third suspect managed to escape, despite being spotted near Avenue 52 and Douma Court, as authorities set a perimeter in their effort to capture him, but he remains at large.

Riverside Sheriff's K-9 Unit joined the search, leading to the recovery of two handguns and the victim's personal property. The detained juveniles face serious charges including carjacking, robbery, criminal threats, and carrying a loaded firearm, as they were booked into juvenile hall in Indio, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies continue their investigation to identify the third suspect, calling upon the community for any relevant information.
