Early Friday morning, Laconia police arrested two men from East Falmouth, Massachusetts, following vandalism in the downtown area. The men, identified as "Tommy" Yarbrough, 21, and Jonathan "Jonny" Yarbrough, 19, are facing charges of criminal mischief for spray-painting offensive images on businesses and city properties. Additional incidents were reported in nearby Gilford, as stated by NBC Boston.
According to WMUR, graffiti with racial slurs and graphic images was found on local property. Erica Gilbert, owner of Stages Dance Academy, discovered the vandalism on Thursday morning after a neighbor notified her. She checked her Ring camera footage, which showed a group of people painting the images. Gilbert said, "Just appalled that someone would do that and destroy everyone's property."
John Moriarty, landlord of a building at 5 Pleasant St., faces a $25,000 repair cost due to vandalism involving spray paint, which also damaged nearby businesses. Thomas and Jonathan Yarbrough were arrested and released on bail, with a court date set for February 27. Police believe the vandalism may extend to Gilford and are urging anyone with information to contact them, as reported by NBC Boston.
