Over the weekend, two individuals from Oregon were arrested on allegations of impersonating firefighters within the evacuation zone of the Palisades Fire, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, in collaboration with local firefighters, were patrolling the fire-affected area when they encountered a suspicious fire truck, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
Upon closer inspection, the vehicle bore decals indicating "Roaring River Fire," a name that was quickly recognized to be fictitious. Tracy Koerner, a Public Information Officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, stated, as per KATU, that it's "a non-existent fire department."
The charade was further unraveled when deputies learned the firetruck had been bought at auction, suggesting premeditation in the impersonation. The vehicle was subsequently impounded, and the duo now faces charges for their actions. KPTV reported that the individuals claimed to be from the non-existent Roaring River Fire Department, a factitious detail that led to their arrest.
