In the dark hours before dawn on a San Antonio highway, a tragic turn of events unfolded as two pedestrians lost their lives. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 90 near West Military Drive, where, according to KSAT, the pedestrians attempted to cross in a non-permitted area and were struck by two different drivers.
Both drivers were traveling eastbound just before 5 a.m. when the collision happened. The San Antonio Police Department reported that the first driver struck both pedestrians, and the second hit one of the victims a second time, as per a report from MSN. Officers said that in the aftermath, both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
The emergency responders discovered the victims, unresponsive, and they were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the pedestrians have not been released pending notification of their families. As investigations continue, the police have indicated that no charges are expected against the drivers involved in this incident.
