Citrus Heights police have reported the detention of a wanted felon who had eluded capture until recently. Jesus Gutierrez of Citrus Heights, who was wanted for illegal possession of firearms, was arrested in Carmichael on the evening of last Wednesday. The operation was a combined effort between CHPD IMPACT Detectives and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office SWAT team.
The attempt to serve the warrants encountered a complication when Gutierrez barricaded himself inside the residence. The standoff lasted roughly two hours. However, crisis negotiators eventually persuaded him to surrender without incident, as reported by the Citrus Heights Police Department on their Facebook page.
After Gutierrez’s surrender, authorities conducted a search of the residence and found 12 firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and body armor. Gutierrez was booked into Sacramento County Jail on multiple felony charges. The Citrus Heights PD and other involved agencies emphasize the importance of collaboration in handling such operations safely.
