Washington County is taking an inclusive approach and reaching out to the local community to gather feedback on its strategic plan for Disability, Aging, and Veteran Services (DAVS). The department is responsible for outlining a comprehensive four-year agenda aimed at addressing the needs of these critical population segments, a draft of which is now available for the public to scrutinize and comment on.
According to the plan posted on Washington County's website, individuals looking to review the document should concentrate on Section C: Focus Areas, Goals, and Objectives, where they can find the goals and work plans relating to DAVS programs nutrition, caregiver support, and veterans' services and much more, these sections detail infrastructure born from expansive community engagement efforts mentioned in Section A.
DAVS Supervisor Rebecca Miller highlighted the importance of community feedback, saying, "Hearing from the community about our plan is an important part of the process," as stated by Washington County. The agency has encouraged citizens to actively participate by reviewing the plan and contributing their thoughts.
To facilitate this engagement, two events have been organized: a hybrid session scheduled for January 16 at DAVS’ Hillsboro office and another in-person-only event on February 6, offering Washington County residents the chance to learn in detail about the agency's strategy dealing with aging and veterans' resources, elder abuse prevention, and numerous additional services, as per Washington County.
The January event gives the option of joining either virtually via Microsoft Teams or physically at 5240 NE Elam Young Parkway, Suite 300, Hillsboro, OR 97124, and both sessions are set to further the dialogue between the agency and the public. Those interested in attending or submitting feedback can head over to the Washington County website for more details, and all comments are due by February 13.
