Those navigating the rigors of building projects in Washington County have a new tool at their disposal. The Building Services, under the Department of Land Use and Transportation, has unveiled an online permitting portal that promises to streamline the process for contractors and residents alike. With the new Building and Development Application Services (BDAS) system, users can submit applications and manage projects entirely online, working in tandem with the existing ProjectDox web tool.
In a statement on the Washington County website, Derrick Moon, the county building official, heralded the launch as just the first phase of their planned technology enhancements. "This marks the first phase of our online permit submission software rollout," he said. "Our goal is to increase online access by continuing to take advantage of the BDAS technology."
Available now through the BDAS system are applications for various permits, such as Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Prescriptive Solar, and NFPA 13 Sprinkler Affidavit Permits. This array of services is part of Washington County's effort to enhance accessibility and efficiency for permit seekers engaging with the construction process.
The benefits of BDAS extend to easing the administrative load, which was traditionally bogged down by paper submissions and manual reviews. Derrick Moon encapsulated the anticipated improvements, stating, "Our goal is to increase online access by continuing to take advantage of the BDAS technology," as announced through Washington County's news release. County officials are optimistic that the BDAS system will not only enhance the efficiency of submitting and tracking applications but also improve the overall user experience for the community and industry professionals.
