An 18-year-old student from Weeki Wachee High School, Matthew Tyler Woolever, faces charges including three counts of possession of child pornography and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, as per the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Investigators, who commenced their inquiry on January 3, established probable cause for a seizure warrant of Woolever's cellphone, which was executed last  Friday at the high school.

Upon his arrest at the school, Woolever acknowledged ownership of a social media account containing illicit materials. "Detectives say Woolever told them he was the owner of the social media account, which contained child sex abuse material," FOX 13 News reported. Woolever also admitted he was aware of the child sex abuse material on his account. A separate report by Suncoast News stated the student, whose age precluded disclosing their identity, was charged with unlawful use of a two-way communication device in addition to the possession charges.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office informed that the investigation was initiated following the receipt of information relating to the possession of child pornography. The investigation revealed a suspect, and on January 3, detectives began their investigation, according to the information obtained by Suncoast News.

Woolever was arrested and taken to the Hernando County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. ABC Action News reported on the charges against him and his current status.
