A Wayne County man has claimed a Lotto 47 jackpot prize of $1.05 million from a lottery ticket purchased in Westland at Maple Drugs. His winning numbers from the Dec. 4 drawing were 02, 10, 13, 24, 29, and 46 which he verified the day after the drawing via the Michigan Lottery app, leading to a celebratory digital confetti display, according to a report by Detroit Free Press.
The winner, a 57-year-old man who opted for anonymity, recounted his moment of surprise and joy, "When confetti came up on the screen with the amount of $1.05 million, all I could think was: 'It's a miracle! An early Christmas miracle!'" a sentiment he shared in an interview obtained by WZZM13. Electing to take a lump sum payout, the winner received approximately $728,000 before taxes which he expressed plans to use for assisting his family and fortifying his retirement savings.
The man’s good fortune signifies one of the eight Lotto 47 jackpot wins within the year 2024, tallying more than $23 million in total for the game. "Congratulations to the winner who turned $1 into a $1.05 million Lotto 47 jackpot!" said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli in a statement highlighted by WZZM13. Lotto 47 draws are held bi-weekly with tickets available for purchase through Michigan Lottery retailers and online at the official website.
