The Yavapai County Mounted Sheriff's Posse (YCMSP) has officially announced its call for applications for the 2025 college scholarships, targeting high school seniors who are on the brink of their college journey. With $1,000 up for grabs per award, the YCMSP seeks to support the academic ambitions of students across the county, much like it has done over many years. According to the announcement, interested candidates should begin the application process early due to the detailed nature of the required material, and they must submit their applications by April 5.

In the previous year, the scholarship saw applications from more than 50 seniors from 14 schools, including one home-schooled student, through the initiative which began in 1958. Last year, 37 scholarships were awarded, and for the first time, a student from Wickenburg High School numbered among the recipients. With two types of scholarships being offered – the Ralph Hooker Memorial Scholarship for students attending Yavapai College, and the YCMSP Scholarship, which can be used at any college – a breadth of opportunity sprawls before the aspiring scholars of Yavapai County. Over time, amounting to more than $650,000 has been handed out in scholarships by the 40-member Posse, all funded by four major fundraising events held annually, as reported by the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

To lay claim to the application or seek answers to impending queries, Chris Hill can be reached at (602) 320-3430, as per the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
