A 49-year-old man from Youngsville, Louisiana, Coy David Miller, was sentenced to 46 months in prison by Senior United States District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle for possessing material related to the sexual exploitation of minors, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Miller's sentence also includes 10 years of supervised release, a $10,000 fine, and mandatory registration as a sex offender. This sentencing follows a search by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations, which uncovered images and videos of child pornography involving pre-pubescent children.
The evidence was found on October 17, 2023, when Miller returned to the U.S. from Cancun, Mexico, and landed at Louis Armstrong International Airport. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood brings together federal, state, and local resources to apprehend offenders and rescue victims. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba, Chief of the Financial Crimes Unit, led the prosecution with assistance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
