According to WDSU, New Orleans police investigated the shooting after the injured woman was taken to the hospital. Her current condition has not been released. Police located the suspect near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Elysian Fields Avenue, according to the same report. No motive for the shooting has been determined, per the outlet's reporting.
The Shooting and Arrest Locations
The 1500 block of Kerlerec Street is in the 7th Ward, while North Claiborne and Elysian Fields meet at an intersection. Police located a suspect near that intersection after the shooting, according to the report.

Not the First Shooting on This Block

Whether Friday's shooting factors into future prosecutorial charges remains to be seen; no charges had been announced as of Friday morning.
Possible Charges Under Louisiana Law
If prosecutors move forward once NOPD completes its investigation, possible charges could include aggravated assault with a firearm. Louisiana Revised Statute § 14:94 covers illegal discharge of a firearm where it is foreseeable that human life could be endangered and provides a five-to-seven-year penalty.
