Tenquarius Mender, a defendant in the YSL RICO case, has accepted a plea deal. He pled guilty to weapon possession and having a cell phone in custody, and also entered an Alford plea on the gang charge, meaning he maintains his innocence but acknowledges enough evidence for a possible conviction, according to FOX5 Atlanta.
Mender agreed to a 10-year sentence with credit for time served, avoiding trial. This plea deal reduces the number of defendants still facing trial in the case. Mender, one of the original 28 indicted in 2022, had to make a quick decision as his trial was imminent. Judge Paige Reese Whitaker accepted the plea, stating, "I find that plea to be freely, voluntarily, intelligently and knowingly entered with an understanding of the consequences, and I'll accept it as such," as stated by FOX5 Atlanta.
Mender's case was resolved with a guilty plea that dropped the RICO charge. Now, focus shifts to Demise McMullen, Damekion Garlington, and Christian Eppinger, who face serious charges, including murder and armed robbery. Their trials are set for February 24. Garlington and McMullen face RICO charges, while Eppinger rejected a life sentence offer and now faces two life sentences plus 100 years. The upcoming trials could mark the end of the high-profile YSL case, as reported by 11Alive.
