Julian Corniell, also 14, of South Jamaica, succumbed to his injuries after being stabbed in his abdomen, following an altercation that originated in a local McDonald’s and escalated outdoors near 38th Street and Queens Boulevard. The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. yesterday. ABC 7 New York reports, that the victim was urgently transported to NewYork-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center, however, later died as a result of the wounds.

Law enforcement officials have apprehended a peer of the victim — another 14-year-old — who now faces charges of first-degree gang assault, according to police sources, it remains uncertain whether this stabbing was gang-related. The motives behind the violent episode are under active investigation. Police have not yet released any further details regarding whether the suspect and Corniell were acquainted. A knife was located on the street near the scene of the crime, its connection to the stabbing is still being determined, The New York Post adds.
