The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has successfully taken into custody another individual from the state's 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List, as reported by DPS. The arrest of 69-year-old Armando Flores Aguilar, a Mexican national with a criminal record in the U.S., was made in Houston last Friday, Feb. 14.
A multi-agency effort, involving DPS Special Agents, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers, and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, managed to swiftly capture Flores Aguilar. He had been on the run and was actively sought after in Bastrop Co. since September 2024 due to charges that include aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child. The DPS announced that a Crime Stoppers reward will be paid for his arrest, incentivizing public cooperation in such cases.
According to the statement from DPS, Flores Aguilar has previously been deported from the United States in September 1999. His recent legal troubles began in May 2024 when he was arrested for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 by the Bastrop Co. Sheriff's Office. However, after being released on bond, Flores Aguilar became a fugitive. More details on his arrest can be found here.
The Texas Crime Stoppers program, backed by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, offers cash rewards for tips leading to an arrest of anyone from Texas' 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, or Criminal Illegal Immigrants. So far in 2025, DPS alongside partnering agencies have notably managed to apprehend nine individuals from these lists, including two sex offenders and three criminal illegal immigrants, talling up to $15,000 in reward payments for actionable tips.
For those looking to provide information that could potentially lead to an arrest and are interested in claiming a reward, the DPS has outlined three methods to submit a tip. Tips can be given by calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submitting a web tip through the DPS website, or via a Facebook tip by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link under the “About” section. It is emphasized that all tips are kept anonymous, with tipsters receiving a unique tip number as identification instead of being asked for a name.
The DPS website features the current Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List, complete with photos of the fugitives, accessible to the public. However, the DPS warns against trying to apprehend these individuals personally, as they are considered to be armed and dangerous.
