An Odessa woman's afternoon drive took a chaotic turn Wednesday when her Range Rover flipped over and smashed into the A/C units of a Pasco County apartment complex. The 78-year-old was traversing a private drive, failed to heed a stop at Gunn Highway, and collided with a Ford van navigated by a 21-year-old Tampa woman, WFLA reports.
After the initial collision, while the Tampa woman's van came to a halt on the roadway, the Range Rover, driven by the Odessa woman, then struck a rock wall and a tree, culminating in its rotation and subsequent overturn, according to details from an ABC Action News report. The out-of-control SUV eventually came to a rest after colliding with the apartment complex's air conditioning units located at 1470 Long Spur.
The incident, which occurred around 3:56 p.m., resulted in both drivers sustaining minor injuries. They were subsequently transported to local hospitals for treatment. As stated by the Florida Highway Patrol, the Odessa woman's vehicle had been approaching the intersection of Gunn Highway and Long Spur when she crossed paths with the southbound van. Details provided by FOX 13 News reveal that the mishap was a result of the Range Rover driver not yielding while attempting to cross the intersection.
There is no suspicion of alcohol or substance abuse being involved in the incident.
