Anderson County Park visitors experienced an unexpected disruption on Friday when a key access road collapsed, leading local authorities to close public entry points. The incident occurred along Park Lane, blocking access to the park's campground and boat dock. Emergency crews and county road officials currently have exclusive access to the site as they assess the damage and work on establishing a temporary route for visitors, as reported by WVLT.
Ben Taylor, the manager of county parks, shared details about the collapse. "You could hear it from the maintenance building, the guardrail started creaking. We weren't sure where it (the sound) was coming from at first," he recounted in an interview with WVLT. Taylor acknowledged the inconvenience, especially for those with reservations, and said, "but hopefully, we will be able to start working on a temporary route next week."
