Collin County's District Attorney Greg Willis has revealed that 46-year-old Allen resident Joseph Baker has been handed down a severe 60-year prison sentence for the continuous sexual abuse of two children, a sentence which notably carries no chance for parole. According to a report by Collin County’s official news release, Baker exploited his accessibility to the children over 14 years to commit these heinous acts.

The exposure of Baker's crimes began with the earliest victim, who was just seven when the abuse started, an ordeal that persisted for thirteen years. Once this first victim was able to move away finally, Baker directed his criminal actions towards another young individual. Approximately one year into the second cycle of abuse, that child courageously stepped forward to initiate an investigation promptly. Allen Police Detective Jared McConathy took the lead on the case, managing to interview the first victim who verified the prolonged abuse. In contrast, the second provided pivotal details during a forensic interview at the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County.

Jurors, upon hearing the depth of the abuse during the trial, returned a verdict of guilty as charged against Baker. Following this conviction by the jury, Judge Tom Nowak passed down the 60-year sentence. "This predator robbed these children of their innocence, but today, justice has spoken loud and clear," District Attorney Greg Willis said, as per Collin County's website. He praised the victims for their bravery, the investigators for "their relentless pursuit of justice," and the jury for securing accountability for Baker's actions.
