An Amber Alert has been issued for Sophia Martha Franklin, a 16-year-old from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, who has been reported missing and is three months pregnant. According to KSTP, the teenager was last seen at her home on Sunday around 9 p.m. She is believed to be with 40-year-old Gary F. Day, alleged to be the father of her unborn child. An earlier no-contact order was in place between Day and Franklin.
Wisconsin Amber Alert described Franklin as 5'9", weighing 186 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes, while Day is 5'7", weighing 165 lbs, with blonde hair and green eyes. It has been reported by KSTP that they may be traveling in a 2014 black Buick LaCrosse. The vehicle is associated with multiple license plates, including an Arkansas license plate with the number BBR 20L and a Pennsylvania license plate numbered KGW 5186.
Further details provided by WISN indicate that Day, from Cabot, Arkansas, now faces charges including child enticement and abduction. Franklin's parents informed police that she had been communicating with strangers online, and before her disappearance in February, she had not been seen by her family from July until December, initially believed to still be in the Beaver Dam area. They were surprised to find out she was in Arkansas when police contacted them in December 2024.
On the morning of her most recent disappearance, Franklin's father reported her missing on Monday and provided surveillance footage that appeared to show Day near their house. According to complaint details from ABC7 Chicago, he was seen at around 7:48 a.m. near Franklin's home on the day of disappearance. Officials have highlighted that Day has ties to Arkansas, suggesting a possible destination for the suspect vehicle.
