In a display of palpable fiscal concern, House Appropriations Chairman David Livingston expressed deep appreciation for Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee while simultaneously taking a swing at Governor Katie Hobbs for the state's financial woes. In his statement, Livingston lauded Yee for her transparent communication and called out what he described as Hobbs’ "reckless budget mismanagement" leading to a $350 million shortfall. "I appreciate Treasurer Yee's clarity in addressing the financial mess Governor Hobbs has created," Livingston remarked, as stated by the Arizona Legislature.
Livingston's critique took on a sharper edge as he raised the concerns over Arizona's Developmental Disabilities Program, which is reportedly spiraling towards insolvency due to unilateral financial decisions from Hobbs' administration. Despite increasing deficits, it seems Hobbs' new budget proposal still demands an additional $328 million for these programs. "This Governor is running Arizona’s budget into the ground," Livingston decried, as per the Arizona Legislature.
Not one to shy away from calling out what he perceives as fiscal incompetence, Livingston has pledged that the Republican Majority Legislature will not sit idle while the state's financial stability is under threat. He assured escalated examination of state agency budgets and stated the Joint Legislative Budget Committee will hold Hobbs' administration to task over its financial blunders.
