
An armed man who allegedly broke into a Karnack, Texas home on Monday evening was shot by Harrison County Sheriff's Deputies, officials relayed. According to FOX 7 Austin, the incident occurred just after 7 p.m. when dispatchers received a 911 call about the attempted break-in at the 2500 block of Pine Island Rd.
The caller described the suspect as a white male and, while deputies responded, the person reported the man gaining entry into the home with a gun; meanwhile, occupants managed to escape to safety next door, everyone inside the home was able to escape to a neighbor's house before deputies arrived. As deputies arrived and began their investigation, the man reportedly stepped out onto the front porch, brandishing the firearm at them which led to the deputies shooting him, as reported by FOX 4 News.
Following the shooting, deputies provided medical aid until first responders took over and the suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment, the Texas Department of Public Safety's Ranger Division has been called to investigate the officer-involved shooting; the current condition of the suspect, along with his identity and the reason for the break-in, remains undisclosed, this is an active investigation.
Moreover, the Texas Municipal Police Association reported that this incident was one of three officer-involved shootings in Texas that Monday, which included an ongoing situation in Kauffman County and a confrontation in Orange, Texas, where a person was non-fatally shot in the leg after failing to relinquish a rifle, his injuries are not life-threatening, and no officers were injured, all incidents are under scrutiny.
