Residents of Arnold Mill are gearing up for a community-focused discussion at the upcoming Community Information Zoning Meeting (CZIM) this Tuesday, as city hall's Council Chambers opens its doors at 6 p.m. to talk over the future of a developing rural event facility and a few key City Code text amendments; this is an occasion for the public to directly engage with City staff, a platform for lay opinion and critical query rather than the ground for official motions or council decrees, according to a statement on the City of Milton's website.
The central issue on the table is the proposed granting of a "rural event facility" use permit for the Pardue Family Center, a 23,000-square-foot expanse boasting amenities including an outdoor amphitheater, which, if approved, could see up to 300 guests gathering for a diverse array of shindigs like weddings, theatrical performances and the more sedate confluences of community or company meetings, this according to the details shared for the upcoming CZIM event also no presentations given, no votes taken, or official recommendations made at CZIMs.
A concurrent subject of debate at the CZIM will concern adjustments to the notice process for such meetings, where one suggestion on the docket is opting for online announcements on the City's website instead of traditional publication in the "legal organ" of the Milton Herald; even so, the current 10-day advance notice stipulation will remain, and letters to proximate property owners will hold fast to a 15-day prior notification schedule.
Other proposed changes within Milton's regulatory reach involve both demolition considerations, with talks of trimming the public notice period from a month to a fortnight—a proposal that seeks handshake with local Zoning Procedures Law—and finetuning rules around the parking and storage of commercial vehicles in residential and agricultural tracts, the latter amendment delineating that such activity should be tethered exclusively to active building permits, the Pardue Family Center is part of Ebenezer Methodist Church at the intersection of Arnold Mill and Cox roads.
