Dr. Michael George of Atlantic Coast High School has been honored once again, named principal of the year by the Florida Association of School Administrators (FASA) and Florida Association of Secondary School Principals (FASSP), as reported by Duval County Public Schools. George, who has led Atlantic Coast for over three years, attributes his success to his team, "Their passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our students make my job easy," he told the publication.
The commendation from FASA, which is the state affiliate of National Association of Secondary School Administrators (NASSP), marks another milestone for Dr. George, who in the past was titled as the 2024 Florida Principal of the Year by the Florida Department of Education. This year's selection process highlighted Dr. George's efforts to prioritize school culture, student well-being, and shared decision-making among staff and students—a proven recipe for cultivating leaders and ensuring student success in a global society.
FASA's Executive Director Michele White commended Dr. George's vision and leadership: "Dr. George is a visionary leader committed to fostering a supportive culture where every student and staff member is valued and celebrated," White said. Dr. George's approach has set a high standard for principals across the state, with Florida benefiting from his dedication to shaping its schools. Dr. George is set to receive the award at FASA's annual conference this June in Orlando. Additionally, he's been invited to Washington, D.C. in October to partake in a special event during National Principals Month, where the national winner will be announced. With such recognitions stacking up, it's clear that the Stingray community is thriving under his leadership.
