Crayton Webb, President of Texas Lyceum, described the event's setting as an "interesting juxtaposition," acknowledging the city's musical roots while shifting focus toward the din of the global AI conversation. He indicated that integrating AI, unleashing its potential, and installing necessary safeguards constitutes a critical conversation for the non-partisan organization, known for fostering civil debate on key issues. "The technology is moving faster than the public policy that will put the guardrails in place for all of us," Webb told CBS Austin.
Amplifying these concerns, Chris Turner, VP of Knowledge and Information Products at Google, rallied for well-crafted regulations. "It needs to be regulated, and it needs to be regulated well," Turner asserted during the conference, as per MSN. He advocated for a unanimous approach, emphasizing the value of alignment and the significance of getting Texas leaders "all in the same room, all on the same page."
The perspective of investors was not left unheard. Thomas Miranda, General Partner at Top Line Ventures, expressed his view on the tightrope walk of regulation. "We'll eventually get it right," Miranda confidently projected, signaling a need to carefully balance innovation and control. "We'll figure out what the right balance is, but over-regulating this area may not be the best thing currently," he highlighted, as CBS Austin noted.

Local "unicorns" like humanoid robotics firm Apptronik were showcased, alongside the financial muscle of tech investors at Capital Factory.
