Young people in Avondale have something to look forward to next month. The Avondale Neighborhood and Family Services Department, along with The Be Kind People Project®, is planning to host a Youth Empowerment Summit tailored specifically for 13 to 18-year-olds. This event aims to provide a space for local youth to engage in personal development and community-building activities. Set for Saturday, March 22, the summit will unfold at Agua Fria High School on 530 E Riley Dr, promising a free, educational, and entertaining experience starting at 9 a.m. and concluding at 2 p.m.

The day will be jump-started by DJ Hush and THE BE KIND CREW®, setting an upbeat tone for the participants. A series of breakout sessions designed to foster skills and character growth are on the agenda. As reported by the City of Avondale announcement, these include "Be Me and Love It," helping youngsters to build self-confidence, "Cyber Skills," aimed to equip them to safely and smartly navigate digital realms, and "The BE Kind Pledge™ for High School," a session dedicated to promoting kindness and a sense of community among high schoolers.

The summit is also set to provide free meals, with breakfast and lunch included, ensuring that the attendees have the energy they need to fully participate and engage. On top of the knowledge gains, there will be an opportunity to win raffle prizes, adding an element of excitement to the day. To secure attendance, the department is encouraging interested youth to register as soon as possible by contacting the Avondale Neighborhood and Family Services Youth & Community Engagement or by using the "Empowerment Day Registration" as per the City of Avondale announcement.
