Bay Area commuters, brace yourselves for potential delays as MoDOT gears up for a week of bridge repair work on the eastbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge over the Missouri River, starting from Monday through March 3. MoDOT has announced a lane closure that will impact the daily commute for many drivers.
During the weekdays, expect to see the far-right lane and shoulder of eastbound I-70 clamped down for construction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., making the rush hour just that much more interesting. Workers will be on-site repairing the bridge structure, a critical component in maintaining the infrastructure of this heavily-trafficked artery. And for, those driving semis, keep in mind there's an 80,000 lb. weight limit during this period.
The construction phase enters into a more intense gear on Friday night. Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, MoDOT is upping the ante by shuttering the two far-right lanes, with plans to keep them closed continuously over the weekend. It's not just weekday warriors who will feel the pain but weekend travelers as well.
Circle March 3 on your calendars, folks, because that’s when normalcy is scheduled to resume, with lanes reopening at 5 a.m. sharp on Monday morning. This entire operation is contingent upon the weather, however, so if Mother Nature throws a curveball things could get extra dicey. Don't say you weren't warned, and always remember to check the forecast before planning your route through the Blanchette Bridge construction zone.
