The City of Baytown is addressing a water main break on Bayway Drive, resulting in a city-wide boil water notice. The notice affects residents in Lakewood, Brownwood, and the Country Club Oaks area. In response, the city has set up a water distribution center to provide bottled water to affected residents.
According to Click2Houston, Baytown residents can pick up water at the Baytown Fire Training Field (7022 Bayway Drive) starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday until supplies run out, with a two-case limit per vehicle. The distribution follows a water crisis caused by a compromised water line, which led to low pressure and potential bacterial contamination. As a result, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has issued a boil water notice for all water intended for consumption, as reported by FOX26 Houston.
The City of Baytown is repairing the water system, stating that "repairs are currently being made and the water system will be restored and tested prior to the rescinding of this notice." Residents should boil water for two minutes before use or find alternative sources for drinking, cooking, and hygiene. "Our Public Works crews continue to work on water line repairs in the Lakewood and Baker Road areas." Updates are available on Baytown’s official channels, and public works inquiries can be directed to Assistant Director Sterling Beaver at (281) 420-5300, as stated by FOX26 Houston.
