The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office (SJSO) disclosed through a social media post the current status of the probe into the fire, which is being spearheaded by the SJSO Major Crimes Unit detectives.
"First responders located a deceased body inside the structure," the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office reported, maintaining that the ongoing investigation is of a sensitive nature, and no additional details will be released at this juncture, especially as they work towards notifying the next of kin and maintaining respect for the privacy of the family. Residents and motorists in the vicinity of the incident were advised that the 8200 Block of A1A South would be obstructed due to the emergency response, and were urged to seek alternate routes.
The fatal fire, which drew a response from both the SJSO and St. Johns County Fire Rescue, required a significant deployment of resources, sealing off a swath of the local thoroughfare for hours.
