Tragedy struck on a Clackamas County road this past Sunday when a three-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 79-year-old man from Boring, Oregon. According to reports, the incident occurred on Highway 26 at the intersection with Haley Road. Oregon State Police have identified the deceased as Richard Allan Kerron, who was attempting to cross the highway in his silver GMC Envoy when the crash took place.
As Kerron entered the highway, he inadvertently drove in front of an eastbound gold Toyota Camry, causing the vehicles to collide. The impact was severe enough to overturn Kerron's GMC, which subsequently struck a gold Toyota Solara. While the operators of both Toyotas, Derek Lorenz, 33, and Austin Christopher Moore, 19, escaped unharmed, the events led to the critical injury of Kerron's passenger, 82-year-old Erlita Jean Kerron, who was later transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
The Oregon State Police, who are spearheading the ongoing investigation, stated that the highway was closed for approximately four hours to facilitate their work at the scene. This closure undoubtedly caused significant delays, as OSP worked closely with the Sandy Fire Department, Clackamas County Medical Examiner, and the Oregon Department of Transportation to clear the wreckage and investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
