Yesterday morning, at around 9:25 a.m., Boston police officers arrested 42-year-old Keon Boggs of Boston on multiple firearm charges. The incident occurred at Dudley Street and Putnam Street in Roxbury, according to Boston Police Department. Shots fired were reported, prompting an immediate response from nearby detail officers and Boston Police Operations, who supplied a description and last known direction of the suspect.
Per the descriptions given, two officers happened upon an individual matching the suspect's profile, running towards Bartlett Street. After a brief foot pursuit, with support from responding officers, Boggs was apprehended. Swinging from his pocket, officers recovered a Taurus 709 handgun with one round in the chamber and three more in the magazine, a discovery made alarming not just by the potential violence it implied but by the stark reminder of fire's power uncontained. Additionally, they found sixteen rounds of ammunition and two spent shell casings on Boggs.
No injuries were reported despite the ballistic damage to a vehicle spotted at 7 Dudley Street. The area was thoroughly canvassed, but no victims were located. Bogg's litany of charges includes unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a firearm without a license, firearm violation with prior violent/drug crimes, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, as confirmed by the official report from the Boston Police Department.
Boggs, who was also charged with withholding evidence from a criminal proceeding, will be arraigned at Roxbury District Court.
