A Boston man with a history of bank robbery is headed back to prison for over a decade following his latest conviction. Kim Daley, 55, was handed a 125-month sentence by U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, according to a recent announcement from the U.S. Attorney's Office. In addition to his prison time, Daley is slated for three years of supervised release and received a concurrent five-year sentence for escape charges.

Daley had been serving a previous sentence for federal bank robbery when he decided to leave a Boston Residential Reentry Center without authorization on May 9, 2022, essentially escaping custody. His whereabouts remained unknown until he committed another robbery just over a month later. On June 20, 2022, Daley entered a TD Bank in Cambridge, slipped a note to the teller demanding cash, and fled with $560. Authorities were quick to apprehend him within 40 minutes of the heist, discovering the exact amount stolen on his person. He pled guilty to both the bank robbery, and the escape in April of 2024.

The successful prosecution of Daley was the result of collaborative efforts by several law enforcement agencies. United States Attorney Leah B. Foley praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Boston Division and the Cambridge Police Department in bringing Daley to justice. Special Agent in Charge Jodi Cohen and Cambridge Chief of Police, Christine Elow were also recognized for their roles in the investigation and arrest. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Jacobus of the Major Crimes Unit handled the prosecution for the case.
