Following a drug surveillance operation in Boston, authorities have made multiple arrests and confiscated a firearm, as reported by police. The focus of the investigation was on the Massachusetts Avenue/Melnea Cass Boulevard/Southampton Street area, known for its drug-related activities.

The sting, conducted by the A-7, C-6, and D-14 Drug Control Units last Sunday, resulted in the detention of two men, Kevin Howard-Lee and Angel Gomez, after they were spotted in what appeared to be drug distribution near a local McDonald’s, as stated in the official police statement. Officers claim Howard-Lee was seen conducting hand-to-hand transactions while Gomez allegedly tried to obstruct the view with a blanket. When approached, Howard-Lee attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended, and a firearm holster fell from his possession. During a search, officers found a loaded Smith & Wesson firearm, various substances, and drug paraphernalia on him.

Howard-Lee faces numerous charges, including distribution and possession with intent to distribute various drug classes, conspiracy, and several firearm-related violations. Meanwhile, Gomez, with an active arrest warrant, was found with suspected crack cocaine and, after an incident during booking where an officer was exposed to fentanyl, will also be charged with intent to distribute, conspiracy, and possession of class A drugs.

Others were involved in the operation as well. One person attempting to conceal items was evaluated by EMS on the scene, while another individual was found with suspected crack cocaine. Both will face court summonses for their drug-related offenses.
